ABOUT US

L.J's Foundation has been created in memory of our son, LJ, who had Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS) and was hit and killed on Interstate 85 in NC on October 21, 2012. Our family will forever be involved with Prader Willi. The reason this foundation is being started is to tell LJ's story of his syndrome. LJ had been in several group homes throughout NC which were not equipped to meet his needs. Children with PWS need constant care and 24 hr surveillance  with their food being under lock and key at all times.  It is hard to find a group home who can accommodate these needs, due to the rights of the non-PWS kids. Children with this disorder require their own type of safe facility. This is why we want to see a PWS facility built for these children.

Our mission and desire is to raise awareness and funds to build a group home for PWS children in the state of NC and then to expand to other states where the need is also very great. There is no funding available for PWS children in many states which is why we also would like to see a change in the current law for funding of group homes for PWS children.  The families of these children desperately need choices of safe homes for their children.  They have complex needs that current homes just cannot accommodate.

Our voice can be heard in numbers and LJ's Foundation needs ALL of your help and support.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, LJ's Family
